Psalm 63 is a record of King David's hungering and thirsting for the love of God. From his boyhood, he understood how utterly dependent we are upon God for life and liberty. Also, he knew the satisfaction of seeking the heart of God. God longs for us to seek his face so that he can impart to us his loving kindness.
Sunday, September 4, begins our "Season of Prayer." With the same spirit as King David, we as a church want to express our hunger and thirst for God.
What is the "Season of Prayer?" The "Season of Prayer" is FRC's three-week commitment to seek the heart of God through united and consistent prayer. The prayer is united because we will be seeking God together. The prayer is consistent because we will be saturating ourselves in prayer for three weeks. We will pray together each day using the Season of Prayer Devotional and each week at Sunday worship services and the Thursday night United Prayer Meetings.
Why are we seeking God?During the "Season of Prayer," we seek God because He is delighted when His people seek His face. In His presence, there is fullness of joy. Seeking God honors God as the object of our deepest affection and the ruler of our destinies. Also, the Word of God tells us that a sincere seeking of God brings renewal, a fresh release of the Holy Spirit's power, and God's guidance as we seek to hear His voice and do His will.
How long is the "Season of Prayer"? The "Season of Prayer" begins Sunday, September 4, and ends Sunday, September 25. As was mentioned, we will be meeting to pray on Sunday during worship service and at 7:00 PM Thursday nights, September 8, 15, and 22.
What is my part in the "Season of Prayer"? • Devote yourself to use the Season of Prayer Devotional to seek God every day for three weeks. • Commit to meeting with others Sunday and Thursday night for united prayer. • Spend extra time in prayer when you’re with others from FRC.
